King Tide Carbon is an oceanic carbon removal as a service company

Company

Our business model: carbon removal as a service

Global warming is an existential threat. The atmosphere has too much carbon. The developed world has committed to net zero carbon by 2050. We must develop new methods and business models to combat this problem.

King Tide is a biosynthetic algae & seaweed carbon removal as a service company with a mission to produce biosynthetic based climate-positive biomass in the ocean to deliver a sustainable, scalable and high quality carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credit with certainty of supply to support the developed world commitment to net zero carbon by 2050.

Our Product

Algae and seaweed are the most scalable answers to the global carbon problem.

Waves

We have deep collaboration with project partners to cultivate and harvest algal biomass from seed to scale. We optimize the biomass growth for yield, carbon sequestration and other product properties.

Seaweed

We extract valuable compounds from the algae biomass. These compounds are often replacing more carbon intensive production sources, such as those derived from petrochemical feedstocks, so we are also helping to decarbonize other supply chains in addition to the carbon removal credits we sell.

Cloud storage

We leverage our unique B2B business model to offer our clients a sustainable, scalable, and auditable removal as a service solution.

The Science
King Tide combines advanced biosynthetic techniques with a mission-driven approach to harness the carbon sequestration potential of kelp and algae, actively combating climate change by producing sustainable biomass in support of the global net zero carbon commitment.
Algae

ALGAE is an inherently more efficient biological machine for carbon capture than trees or plants, because its entire surface area is dedicated to photosynthesis, and it doesn't waste resources creating trunks, roots or branches. What’s more, it grows and proliferates extremely fast under the right conditions.

Seaweed

SEAWEED cultivation refers to the growing of kelp that uptake carbon dioxide as they grow. Seaweed is grown mostly near the shore, and stores the carbon dioxide it has drawn in principally in its biomass, with some carbon dioxide also stored in the sediment below where it is grown. To offset emissions, cultivated seaweed could also be sunk in the deep sea for carbon removal.
